The big man is worth his weight in gold. Or actually 11x his weight in gold really. After missing 6 days of training camp and twelve practices, 7th overall pick DT Sedrick Ellis is on his way down to New Orleans to attend today's afternoon session. And was the hold out worth it? As reported by The Saints Beat, Ellis signed a five-year, maximum $49 million dollar contract with $19.5 million in guarantees. Ellis' agent, Eugene Parker, had this to say of the contract hold-out:

"Sedrick's very mature, and he knows that this is part of it. I mean, here's a guy that stayed for his senior year when he could have been a top-10 pick last year. So he has patience. And he knew this was necessary and it was important...He's excited to get started doing what he loves to do."

We're excited to see Ellis do what he does best. Unfortunately for Matt Leinart, that looks like it will be disrupting his passes when the Saints take on the Cardinals in Arizona, August 7th. And lucks on our side, Trojan fans. That game will be one of the few televised preseason games, 8:00pm on ESPN.

USC topped the Pac-10 media day poll yet again, grabbing a near unanimous 38 out of 39 votes for top dog. The only wayward #1 vote went to...Cal? That must have been a mistake meant for Southern Cal. Or that voter had sand in his eyes when filling out the ballot sheet. Or brain damage. Likely brain damage. Either way USC is the media favorite to win its share of the conference title for an unprecedented seventh year in a row.

The Pac-10 Media poll goes as follows:

1. USC (38)
2. Arizona State
3. Oregon
4. California (1)
5. UCLA
6. Oregon State
7. Arizona
8. Washington
9. Stanford
10. Washington State

The Fantasy Sports Trade Association took these stats a couple years back, estimating fantasy sports to be a $3 billion to $4 billion annual impact across the sports industry. No wonder the NFL, NBA, MLB and PGA all want a piece of the pie. And powerhouses like Time-Warner, ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS, NBC and Yahoo are jumping to get their cut of the action. More surprisingly was that of the 12.6 million US adults to play fantasy sports in 2005, one million were female. Since that article's release in 2005, and with the recent internet boom in fantasy sites, those numbers are sure to have increased.

Women and Fantasy Sports? I know what your thinking... The concept has come a long way from obsessive guys drinking bud light and holding mock drafts on fold out card-tables in the garage. Okay...maybe it hasn't come that far. But if you've never really got into fantasy sports yourself, this site might just help change your perspective. Fantasy Sports Girl (FSG) puts a new spin on the past-time, putting the fantasy back into...well...fantasy.

They're motto is "The Expert to Listen to...and TO LOOK AT!" Follow the jump to see Fantasy Sports Girl Taralee discuss the Arizona Cardinals' upcoming season. She may be hard on Matt Leinart, but she sure ain't hard on the eyes.
