Polamalu made a spectacular fourth-quarter interception return Sunday (Oct 4th) against Cincinnati in evading six would-be tacklers and showed why his
teammates refer to him as “Tasmanian Devil”, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
“Just watch him on film,” said Chris Hope, his partner at safety. “Wild … wide open … giving 100 percent … twirling his
body around … diving … just roughing up dudes.” It was all on display with one captivating sequence in the fourth quarter, a play in which Polamalu
picked off his former college roommate at USC – Bengals’ QB Carson Palmer. Ignoring the pleas and his teammates and even his coach to merely fall to the
ground and preserve the four-point lead, Polamalu whirled around and broke six tackles on his way to the end zone. The last attempted tackle was by Palmer
near the goal line, but Polamalu ran over him, too, and bounced into the end zone.
This just after an AP interview where Polamalu talks about the fondness he feels for
Palmer.
