It may be gamesmanship by Carroll. It might be his way of lying in wait. He could be trying to lull his counterpart, Cal head coach Jeff Tedford,
into expecting a tentative first half from USC and then whammo, an ambush.
USC faithful certainly wouldn’t mind a blowout of No. 7-ranked Cal.
