Where will Leinart go?

The Saints signing of Drew Brees presents a puzzle of scenarios…

But assuming that the Texans pick Bush, what will the Saints do with the second choice? Originally, the Saints were expected to take Leinart, but now that they have Brees, many draft analysts think the Saints will select Mario Williams.

But to be sure of getting Leinart, the Titans might need to trade choices with the Saints to prevent the Saints from trading the second pick to the Raiders or, possibly but unlikely, to the Jets.

Right now it looks like Matt Leinart will be playing for the Titans, Jets or Raiders.

  1. Playing for the Titans may actually be a blessing in disguise for Leinart. He will play under Norm Chow with whom he has great chemistry, and of course he will have McNair to guide him through his rookie season (at least). Just like Kitna and Palmer in Cincinnati, this pair could actually turn out to be a great one for the Titans in a tough division.

  2. Don’t count the Cowboys out on making a big move for Leinart on draft day. Bill Parcells and Sean Payton are still good buddies, and Big Bill did advice Payton to take Drew Brees. (Why?) As of right now, the Cowboys have no future plans at QB. And who has a brighter future than Leinart? Drew Henson? Tony Romo? I don’t think so. Plus the Cowboys were expected to take a WR in the first round, but now they just got their boy in T.O…Hell, maybe this is just an elaborate plot to reason why the hell the Saints would take Brees over Leinart anyways. Guess we’ll find out April 29th.
