Maybe Reggie Bush should have never made a request to wear No. 5 in the NFL.

Maybe the New Orleans Saints should have named him their starting QB, thus qualifying him for numbers 1-19.

NFL Rule 5, Section 1, Article 4 needs to change. Because aside from all the merchandising money left on the table, it makes it impossible for NFL franchises to permanently retire their best players numbers.
