USCFootball.com interviewed Pete Carroll following Pac-10 media day:

“I don’t need too much to get me jacked up,” Carroll said. “This year, particularly, there are a lot of issues.”

Those issues are why USC will most likely not start the season ranked No. 1 like it had been the previous two seasons and why they were not the unanimous pick to win the Pac-10. But Carroll doesn’t care about pre-season rankings.

Carroll also spoke of easing Chauncey Washington into camp since he hasn’t played since 2003–giving other guys plenty of looks.
