Powdrell’s Shelved for 2006

It will come as no surprise to anyone who watched the first quarter of ABC’s telecast Saturday — senior Ryan Powdrell’s 2006 season is done after he dislocated his ankle and broke his fibula. Conquest Chronicles has some X-rays showing the injury — and as you can see, it isn’t pretty.

Ryan will have surgery tomorrow. Mike Brittingham, Jody Adewale, Stanley Havili, and possibly Allen Bradford will attempt to fill Powdrell’s shoes at fullback.

To Ryan — Trojan fans everywhere will miss you this season. But no one will forget the way you left the field — bruised and battered, but flashing a V for Victory and taking the pain like a man bad-ass. Everyone’s rooting for you to make a full and speedy recovery.

  1. I suffered the same injury while playing for Ryan’s J.C. Saddleback. I had a lot of support as Ryan will from the Trojans, and was able to make it back to play the next season for the San Jose State Spartans. My 1st game back was against USC at the Coliseum, with all kinds of emotion. Ryan you can do it, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the line up next year. Blake Curci says Hi!
