While our Maxwell punditry caused some debate about whether Booty was or was not worthy of a tie for the #5 spot, the Maxwell Football Club announced 15 semifinalists for the award given to the nation’s top college football player, and USC quarterback, John David Booty was one of them.

Other QB finalists were Brady Quinn, Troy Smith, Jared Zabransky, Tyler Palko, Chris Leak, Chad Henne and Erik Ainge.

Pete Carroll also made it through the semis for the Munger Award (college coach of the year).

The Maxwell Award winner will be named on Dec. 7 and the Munger Award recipient in mid-December.
