You might have heard (even though we didn’t bother reporting it) earlier this week that Clemson tailback C.J. Spiller, high off a big ACC win vs. Georgia Tech, talked to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and compared himself and backfield teammate James Davis to the backfield tandem of Reggie Bush and LenDale White, also known as Thunder & Lightning:
“That’s where I see us right now,” Spiller said. “We’ve got the same combination.”
Fresh off their victory over Georgia Tech and Spiller’s bold annointment of his backfield as the new kings of college football, how do you think the dynamic duo did Thursday night against Virginia Tech?
A combined 71 yards on 22 tries, in a 24-7 loss to Virginia Tech, the second for the Tigers on the season — matching White & Bush’s career loss total.
Spiller’s got game (USC nearly landed him as a recruit — and you know we don’t pursue anything but Grade A Prime at this point) — but he needs to learn to leave the premature comparisons up to moronic announcers and sportsblogging geeks.
