The Heisman Trophy Trust sent a letter to USC today requesting materials on quarterback John David Booty, with the anticipation he might be one of the players invited to the ceremony in New York.

Just to be clear, it’s not like he got an invite to New York and he’s in the final four. Ballots haven’t even been cast.

But Heisman officials know, even if Booty’s stats aren’t equal to those of Quinn or Troy Smith, the final four games of his season couldn’t be more high-profile. Big wins against Cal and Notre Dame, in front of huge national TV audiences, would certainly go a long way towards getting J.D. his invite to the Downtown Athletic Club on December the 9.
