Oklahoma's Rufus Alexander should be a second round steal

With our first, 1st round mock draft completed we now take a look at how round 2 should shape up.

33. OAKLAND RAIDERSRyan Kalil, C, USC.

QB Jamarcus Russell may have somebody to block for him.

34. DETROIT LIONSAnthony Gonzalez, WR, Ohio St.

Lions boss Matt Millen waits until rd 2 this year to get his receiver. Great compliment to WR Roy Williams.

35. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERSQuinn Pitcock, DL, Ohio State.

After DT Booger McFarland was traded last year they had major problems inside.

36. CLEVELAND BROWNSTroy Smith, QB, Ohio St.

With the Browns drafting Peterson this opens the door for the Hometown hero to make his return.

37 ARIZONA CARDINALSArron Sears, OT, Tennessee.

Leonard Davis is most likely gone as a free agent and they should address defense in rd 1.

38. NEW YORK JETS (f/WAS) – Justin Harrell, DT, Tennessee

Harrell provides good value for the improving Jets defense.

39. MINNESOTA VIKINGSAnthony Spencer, DE, Purdue

One of the better second round picks. Could be a first rounder with good workouts.

40. HOUSTON TEXANSMichael Griffin, S, Texas

The Texans need to improve their defense and Griffin, although undersized, is a playmaker with nice upside.

41. MIAMI DOLPHINSJon Beason, LB, Miami

LB Zach Thomas is getting up in age and Beason can play all over the field at LB.

42. ATLANTA FALCONSMichael Bush RB, Louisville

New Falcons HC Bobby Petrino would be excited to have his old college player Bush on board. It is all about the 40 yard dash for him however.

43. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERSLamar Woodley, DE, Michigan.

This helps with the defensive depth the 49ers are trying to go after.

44. BUFFALO BILLSZach Miller, TE, Arizona St.

QB J.P. Losman needs a TE to help in the in between routes.

45. ST. LOUIS RAMSPatrick Willis, LB, Auburn

The Rams are in need of more team speed on defense and Willis will help with that.

46. CAROLINA PANTHERSBuster Davis, ILB, Florida St.

The Panthers are weak at the linebacker position and this is a great draft for LB depth.

47. GREEN BAY PACKERSJoe Staley, OT, Central Michigan

Favre gets a little blocking help with this need pick.

48. PITTSBURGH STEELERSJustin Blalock, OG, Texas

A fantastic value pick here who could help address needs at either right tackle or right guard.

49. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARSEric Weddle, S, Utah

Safety is a need position for the Jags with Deon Grant a possibility to leave via Free Agency.

50. CINCINNATI BENGALSBen Grubbs, OT, Auburn

Carson needs help on the OL and Grubbs would be perfect if he fell here.

51. TENNESSEE TITANSAaron Rouse, S, Virginia Tech

Safety was a big weakness and starter S Ken Hamlin may not be back either.

52. NEW YORK GIANTSAntonio Pittman, RB, Ohio St.

Could be the complimentary back that works with RB Brandon Jacobs in an attempt to replace RB Tiki Barber.

53. DENVER BRONCOSFred Bennett, CB, South Carolina

Broncos need to replace deceased CB Darrent Williams at some point early in the draft.

54. DALLAS COWBOYSJosh Beekman, OG, Boston College

Beekman is one of the more underrated linemen in the draft.

55. KANSAS CITY CHIEFSCraig Davis, WR, LSU

The Chiefs have not had a legit star WR in decades. They need help here in a big way.

56. SEATTLE SEAHAWKSTanard Jackson, S, Syracuse

Cornerback is a big need here and this guy is a very solid talent to team with CB Pacman Jones.

57. NEW YORK JETSKenny Irons, RB, Auburn

RB Curtis Martin’s is done and RB Leon Washington needs some help.

58. NEW ORLEANS SAINTSBrandon Merriweather, S, Miami

Gamble due to off the field concerns but the Saints need a lot of help at DB and there is no questioning Merriweather’s talent.

59. PHILADELPHIA EAGLESDrew Stanton, QB, Michigan St

QB Donovan McNabb is often injured and QB Jeff Garcia will leave for greener pastures as a free agent.

60. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTSBrandon Siler, ILB, Florida

Major need for MLB as LB Tedy Bruschi is slowing down and becoming situational and LB Mike Vrabel is a better OLB and makes the defense better there.

61. BALTIMORE RAVENSBrian Leonard, RB, Rutgers

There is a chance RB Jamal Lewis will not be back next season so they will need depth at the RB position.

62. SAN DIEGO CHARGERSH.B. Blades, ILB, Pittsburgh

Will help replace loss of Donnie Edwards.

63. CHICAGO BEARSRufus Alexander, OLB, Oklahoma

Great insurance in case LB Lance Briggs is not retained.

64. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (f/IND)- Trent Edwards, QB, Stanford

Gamble because of injury issues with a second round pick but Edwards’ upside could be very high.
