You think this is the Golden Age of USC football? Well, there was a movie made in 1929 specifically about life as USC football players. The film “So This Is College” focused on the social hi-jinx of two football players/fraternity members who unwittingly fall for the same girl on the eve of the big 1928 USC-Stanford game. Luckily, the USC coach convinces the players to focus on the big game instead of romance.
Actual game footage from that USC-Stanford game (a 10-0 Trojans victory) was used in the film and that’s future star Robert Montgomery on the right in the SC letterman’s sweater.
