USC freshman guard Marcus Simmons might not hit many outside shot this season but after watching him frustrate O.J. Mayo in pickup games, he might be the Trojans’ most intense player as a defensive stopper. He’ll be especially valuable in Pac-10 road games, such as places as Arizona, where he’ll be able to get in the face of the opponents’ top scorer.
