Dwayne Jarrett is used to being hit, slammed, flipped and floored and somehow still manages to come out unscathed. This time, however, things were a little different. If you remember back to June 21st, we reported that Jarrett had been involved in a car accident. The details as to the accident at the time were unclear, other than the fact that Jarrett suffered only minor scratches and bruises. Now a month later Jarrett is speaking out about the accident that, if not for his seat belt, could have cost him his life.

According to the AP c/o wistv.com:

Jarrett says he was traveling about 65 miles per hour when a car hit him from behind. He then hit the car in front of him, and Jarrett’s car flipped over. It came to rest on its roof.

He says he was lucky that he was wearing his seatbelt, or he wouldn’t be in camp right now.

Jarrett came out okay and is expected to play a major roll with the Carolina Panthers this rookie season. Jarrett’s new Beemer, however, was not so lucky. The tow-truck company arrived quickly, but the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene.
