Here’s Jerry Meyer’s take on the future match-up that has Trojan/Bruin fans salivating alike:

Assuming everything turns out as expected, Demar DeRozan and Jrue Holiday will square off in the 2008-2009 season. I’d fully expect Holiday to
guard DeRozan, since Holiday will likely guard the top perimeter threat
on the opposing team. However, I’m not so sure DeRozan would guard
Holiday. One of DeRozan’s deficiencies at this point is his defense. He
will probably be more suited to guarding a small forward at the start
of his college career. But with the likelihood of USC playing a
smaller, guard-oriented lineup, DeRozan just might find himself head to
head with Holiday.

So to answer the question, I don’t
think either player can stop the other. DeRozan would have a tough time
guarding Holiday’s penetration. Holiday, who is the best defender in
his class, certainly has the ability to slowdown DeRozan. But DeRozan
is the top wing scorer in the class, and he is not going to be stopped
one-on-one.

It is a tough comparison because
Holiday is a combo guard with a very polished game, while DeRozan is a
wing player with immense upside.

Really tough one to call.  Demar is the most explosive and athletically gifted player of the two, but like Meyer mentioned, his D isn’t as polished as Jrue’s at this point.  It really comes down to how much Demar can improve his D in his final season.  If the improvement in his jumper this past season is any indication of how well Demar can pick up on new skills, then I have my money on him in this match-up…
