USC linebacker Rey Maualuga said he reached out to his former high-school teammate, Nebraska wide receiver Maurice Purify, when he heard of Purify’s arrest for assault last off-season. “I just told him to keep his head up and accept what’s coming to him, just excel after that,” Maualuga said. “He’s been doing a very good job.
