If the news wasn’t bad enough for USC already, it ends up the Trojans’ curse has trickled into the NFL. First Steelers’ safety and former USC stand-out, Troy Polamalu was side-lined with damaged rib cartilage. Now it’s Matt Leinart. Leinart was already upset about sharing quarterback time with Kurt Warner. Now, thanks to a broken-collar bone, Warner’s going to be taking all the snaps.
Matt Leinart was injured during a second-quarter sack, while playing for a 34-31 win against the St. Louis Rams. Regarding how long Leinart would be out, first year coach Ken Whisenhunt had this to say:
“We don’t know how long it’s going to be,” Whisenhunt said. “But it’s going to be for an extended period of time.”
