On John David Booty’s fractured right middle fingertip: “I don’t know yet. He’s still sore. It’s black and blue. He was icing it all day. It’s a mess.”
On Booty’s Stanford game problems: “He came back and threw the ball. It bothered him, it affected him some.”
On whether Booty will be able to play Saturday against Arizona: “It’ll be all whether he can grip the ball and throw it. It’s not a dangerous break, it can’t get worse. I don’t know. We’ll have to figure it out and see what happens. He threw a lot of good throws all through the game. A couple at the end got away from him. The key is as long as he’s OK with it and has his confidence.”
On the four interceptions: “There are a lot of reasons a ball gets intercepted. It’s not a one-guy deal. Everybody’s got to be on the same page, so we don’t make mistakes. There are a lot of things we need to do to be an efficient team. Three weeks ago, we were very efficient.”
What if Booty can’t practice this week? “If he doesn’t practice all week and doesn’t throw, we’re not going to force him. There’s no reason to rush a decision, though.”
What about backup Mark Sanchez? “I love the way Sanchez works and prepares and the energy he brings. But he hasn’t played much.”
