A month ago, the Cal-USC game looked like it would have national title implications. Now it looks like a clash of the also-rans. Before USC’s Oct. 6 game against Stanford, the Trojans were No. 2 and Cal was No. 3. Since then, Cal lost three in a row at one point and USC lost two of its next three conference games.
