A month ago, the Cal-USC game looked like it would have national title implications. Now it looks like a clash of the also-rans. Before USC’s Oct. 6 game against Stanford, the Trojans were No. 2 and Cal was No. 3. Since then, Cal lost three in a row at one point and USC lost two of its next three conference games. Saturday’s game at Berkeley’s Memorial Stadium now looks like it is about avoiding the Las Vegas or Sun bowls.
