Carl Smith, USC’s offensive coordinator for the 2004 season, returned to watch an inseason practice on campus for the first time since he left after that season for the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator’s job.

After two years at Jacksonville, Smith was let go by former USC player Jack Del Rio.

He finished up practice Wednesday talking to quarterback John David Booty, who redshirted the season Smith was here.
