This was a game that perfectly illustrates Pete Carroll’s theory that in big games, the team that wins is the one that stays calm and plays within itself. Teams that get too excited try to do too much and start making mistakes.
Here’s a quote from Arizona State safety Troy Nolan on all the missed tackles.
“We were just too excited and overwhelmed,” he said. “We were just moving too fast and getting out of position on plays.”
