Coliseum Changes Tune With USC

In a late statement, long after he’d said the Coliseum Commission would take no further action on a USC deal or update a response to any USC proposals Wednesday, Commission President Bernard Parks appears to have done an abrupt about-face.

“We have evaluated our past proposals to USC, and their proposals to us, and are putting together what we believe are the best parts of these proposals,” was the way Parks worded it in a statement released to the Los Angeles Times. “We will be expediting our proposal to them.”

How this impacts USC’s response, and its Rose Bowl rental proposal for next season to be considered Thursday night by the Rose Bowl Corporation, has yet to be determined.

Executive director of media relations James Grant did not return a phone call Wednesday night asking for a response from USC.
