USC fans might not realize it but tight end Fred Davis pulled off a massive upset in winning the Mackey Award Thursday as the nation’s top tight end.

By most guesses, Missouri’s Marvin Rucker and Wisconsin’s Travis Beckum, with more catches and yardage, had the edge.

All you had to do was check out the Walter Camp All-American team that had Beckum first team and Rucker second team with no Davis to see how that could have played out.

But it was Davis, the senior from Toledo, Ohio, who was there game in, game out for the Trojans.
