Saturday USC held its last “regular” practice before Rose Bowl preparations begin. The remaining nine practices will be for the regulars: the guys that will likely be in the national spotlight come New Year’s day. But this past Saturday many of the starters got a chance to rest while those “other” guys on the roster took one last chance to make a strong impression before the long hiatus preceding spring practice.

Well look out Mark Sanchez, according to the Press Enterprise, two of the guys that turned some heads were Arkansas transfers, quarterback Mitch Mustain and receiver Damian Williams.

As reported by PE:

All Mustain did was throw for three touchdowns, hitting on 10 of 16 passes for 162 yards…(including) a game-ending 11-yarder to a leaping Williams, who finished with five acrobatic catches — several one-handed in traffic — for 58 yards.

Carroll had this to say of the former razorback duo:

“There’s no question there’s a chemistry there.” he said. “Damian jumped off the charts.”

Marc Tyler, Allen Bradford and Ronald Johnson were all also singled out by Carroll for their strong performances.
