Here’s the trademark “SoCal” spellout during card stunts circa 1923 at the Coliseum. According to the Los Angeles Examiner, “From the USC campus, the sequential card stunt swept the nation. (First yell leader Lindlay) Bothwell’s first effort involved fewer than 300 persons. Today, computerized and highly sophisticated, card stunts involve 3000 card-holding students.”
