And we ask if you’re ready for USC’s 2nd bigtime blowout of a Fightin’ “mascot” this season?
We’re going out on the town tonight and leaving any previously held worries in the year 2007. These include, but are not limited to USC playing to its level of competition, the spread offense troubling USC’s defense, and just a general at large jinx the Rose Bowl as a venue has for the Trojans.
Our overconfidence stems from what we see in comments made about Isiah Williams — the Trojans aren’t calling him Juice so we won’t either. (There will only be one player ever referred to as “The Juice” here and we think you all know who that is.)
Lawrence Jackson on him:
“He’s not like Dixon or Vince Young. Isiah is big and strong and powerful, but he is more strong than he is fast or quick. I won’t call him Juice. To call him Juice, that brings him into another category that I don’t think he should be in.”
Pete Carroll on him:
“Dennis Dixon is really a skinny kid who does it with great bursts and great flash — he avoids getting hit with his elusive nature and all. Juice is a football player that’s going to run right through you if he has to. Always falls forward. He’s always fighting for yards.”
Reading into those quotes, we can tell what the Trojans have in store for Isiah Williams and the Fightin’ Illini. And if they don’t triple team and hold Sedrick Ellis, the USC defensive front will dominate this game — forcing Isiah to throw (something he is not used to averaging only 11 completions/game).
