After a breakout freshman season, defensive end Everson Griffen was named freshman All-American by the Football Writers of America Association, as reported by Scout. With 21 tackles and 5.5 sacks on the year, Griffen made an immediate impact on the already impressive Trojan defense. Griffen’s 3.5 sacks recorded against the Oregon State Beavers brought him to national prominence. With a sizable chunk of the Trojan-D headed off to the pros, expect Griffen to step up and become a team leader in the coming years.
