There were several reports that Raiders coach Lane Kiffin wanted to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan before the club issued a statement last week saying Ryan would return. This is rich on a few levels, with the idea of a 32-year-old first-year coach firing a respected assistant.
But we mention it for another reason. The rumor among league coaches was that Kiffin was interested in hiring USC defensive coordinator Nick Holt as Ryan’s replacement.
