Carolina receiver Dwayne Jarrett has not yet developed into a shadow of the receiver he was at USC. While the other half of his dynamic duo, Giants receiver Steve Smith, is flourishing in the NFL – Jarrett has struggled to adapt to Carolina’s playbook, never started a game, and has only 6 catches for 73 yards in his one-year pro career. And his personal life is going just about as well. When Dwayne Jarrett wrecked his brand new Beemer at the start of last season, everyone seemed to let bygones be bygones. Now Jarrett’s been arrested for a DUI and it seems people are starting to take notice.
People like 3X pro bowler and fellow Panthers receiver Steve Smith.

When Jarrett was drafted, Smith had hoped the rookie would help bring the franchise to new heights. Only they went 7-9, missing the playoffs for the second straight year. Now Smith has some words of wisdom for struggling teammate. As reported on FoxSports, Smith’s message is clear: grow up or get out.
“You know, the party session is actually over. This is the NFL,” Smith said. “You make plays. You’re here to play football. You do the party scene at your own discretion, but on Sundays, we’re here to play football. If you can’t play football, you won’t be playing with the Carolina Panthers or any NFL team…So, this isn’t a poke at anybody…That’s just the way it is. You know, you produce, you’re in. You don’t produce, you’re out.”
Somebody needed to say it. Yes, the kid’s got talent, but it’s time to man up. Don’t become the next Mike Williams.
