Freshman quarterback Aaron Corp stood out during the scrimmage portion of Sunday night’s scrimmage before about 2,000 fans. Corp worked with the first team.
“Any time we move the ball and it’s not going off the script, the defense doesn’t know what we’re going to do,” Corp said. “I did some good things.”
Mitch Mustain said he played “average.”
“My vision’s got to improve,” he said.
USC coach Pete Carroll said the quarterbacks were under too much duress.
“It was rough,” he said. “We’ve got to help protect them better. They’re progressing.”
Carroll praised some of the freshmen, including wide receiver D.J. Shoemate, who enjoyed a long run after a short catch and defensive end Malik Jackson.
“I made a big deal to the team that this is the first chance to make a big impression,” Carroll said.
