After visiting Dr. James Andrews in Alabama and another specialist in New York the options have been laid out.  Reconstructive surgery that will end his season, scope it and clean it out and miss the first 2 or 3 games and a few more depending on complications surrounding his knee, or he can do nothing and play through the pain on a torn PCL.

The Chargers say he will not be a Charger in 2009 and this will undoubtedly weigh heavily on Merriman’s mind while he evaluates his options for this season.

Take this to the bank: Merriman will not be a Charger after his contract expires at the end of the 2009 season.
