If USC athletes had competed as a country in 2008, they would have placed 13th in the overall medal standings in the Beijing Games (and tied for eighth in golds).

Texas and Florida each earned 14 medals. Michigan 12.

  1. Not meaning to rain on anyone’s parade, but Gabe Gardner only spent 2 seasons on USC’s volleyball roster before transferring to Stanford and obtaining his Human Biology degree from there.

He was a TROJAN BADASS while attending ‘SC, but . . . .he graduated elsewhere and LEFT USC! (don’t scratch a gold from our list though. we’ll take it)

    Raining a bit more…

By the way they count medals in the country chart, it’s only one medal per event, so Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson would only count as one gold and the silver count should drop by 4 for the five members of the women’s water polo team. So, if you want to compare apples to apples, you’d have a count of 8-7-2, which would put USC in 15th place in medal count and tied for 9th in golds.
