Ray Small, pictured on the left in #4 but now #82 following a demotion from Coach Jim Tressel, had an impressive punt return for a TD that likely sealed the deal for his Buckeyes to lay claim to college football’s best team (in the state of Ohio).
Small, and Ohio native, took a visit as a recruit to the University of Southern California and is now talking about it:
“As I took my visit to USC, I’m like ‘How are they successful? They’re not even serious about the game. Before the game they’re all going crazy. Me and [Buckeyes defensive end] Rob Rowe was on the visit and I’m looking like, ‘Wow.’”
“Here at Ohio State, they teach you to be a better man. There it’s just all about football.”
Being the better man, you’d think Small would have taken the higher road and kept his trash talk about a place that invited him on a visit to himself.
But it’ll make for nice billboard material. And who knows, come Saturday, we could see Ray “So” Small demoted to wearing an even inferior jersey number.
