USC football: Why didn’t Stafon Johnson score?

You might have been wondering why USC tailback Stafon Johnson couldn’t outrun Washington State’s defense on a 41-yard jaunt in the third quarter that came up 3 yards short of the end zone.

Turns out Johnson was hurt — in the first quarter.

Johnson suffered a bruised thigh early in Saturday’s game. It didn’t stop him from rushing for 112 yards — but it did keep him from scoring on that one, final rush.

Johnson said Monday that his thigh is still sore, but it didn’t keep him out of practice and shouldn’t keep him out of the Arizona game.
