According to the Wynn Sportsbook in Las Vegas, USC would be favored in a BCS title game against anyone.

  • USC vs Alabama (+11.0)
  • USC vs Texas (+5.5)
  • USC vs Texas Tech (+4.5)
  • USC vs Oklahoma (+2.5)
  • USC vs Florida (+1.5)

That’s not media hype. It’s real money predicting the most likely outcomes.

  1. any takers? line up who ever watch em bite the dust!

  2. I think you need to spend a little time re-educating yourself about what betting lines are and are used for.

Here’s what they’re not: a prediction of the game’s outcome.

So what are they? Predictions of betting habits. The goal of any sportsbook is to set the line such that 50% of the people bet on one side of it and 50% bet on the other.

If a team is hyped all to hell, they’re going to get better lines. If they play nobody all year and then face real competition in their bowl game, the line is going to be drastically off (see, e.g., Hawaii last year).

Those lines could just as easily say that USC has been unbelievably hyped or has played nobody as much as it says that they’d beat any of those teams.

  3. from a non-gamblers point, some folks really dont’ give a shit about vegas odds…. they just want to see the match-up.
don’t got a thing to do with it, but according to the experts usc is an elite team that can compete with any big 12-sec team “this you know” whether they win or lose who know’s. let’s see who they matcth up with in january. then you can state your case.
