Live Event of the Day: The Twitter rumors were true! Late Tuesday night, wayward comedian Dave Chappelle came out of hiding, and stepped onto a makeshift stage at the center of Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland. He was greeted by a crowd of several thousand — far more than he expected — and performed a two-hour impromptu set through a dingy amp.

Below is possibly the highest quality footage to emerge from the extemporaneous event, shot by The Oregonian:

Several of the lucky bastards in attendence have been uploading their video phone testimonials to YouTube, but due to the piss poor sound equipment Chappelle brought with him, he is generally inaudible.
