Here’s a good example of how bad most college football movies are. MovieTickets.com asked moviegoers to pick the greatest college football movie of all-time. Of the almost 25,000 polled, more than half backed the the syrupy “Rudy.”

1. Rudy (54 percent)
2. We Are Marshall (24 percent)
3. Other (13 percent)
4. The Program (6 percent)
5. Knute Rockne: All-American (3 percent)

But were fans given a chance to vote for 1929’s, “So This Is College,” which focused on the social hi-jinx of two football players/fraternity members who unwittingly fall for the same girl on the eve of the big 1928 USC-Stanford game?
It even starred the great Robert Montgomery (pictured in USC sweater) and used footage of the actual 1928 USC-Stanford game (a 10-0 Trojans victory).
