Another quarterback plot twist at USC? YOU DECIDE!

Matt Barkley‘s shoulder is fine by every account — official word is it’s a bruise.

But he didn’t throw during Monday’s practice, so his status remains fuzzy.

“Fuzzy” is a fun word.

It would aptly describe this exchange with reporters and Trojans coach Pete Carroll, courtesy of our friends at the LA Times:

Asked if Barkley would play against Washington if he does not practice this week, Carroll zigzagged in response.

“No, not necessarily,” he began. “I don’t know. I would think not, but we’ll find out.”

My guess is that Carroll finished that response with a half-smile that matched the smirks from his gaggle of beat reporters.

By the way, backup Aaron Corp, who lost the job to Barkley after cracking his fibula early in training camp, appears to be close to 100 percent.

Guess here is that Barkley is fine and starts Saturday at Washington.
