As the third string QB on the depth chart, Mitch Mustain is jonesing to get on the field and compete. So he is considering pitching for the Trojans this spring. When asked about this, Mustain said:
“I’ve kind of missed baseball. It’s been six years since I played competitively. I’ll figure it out in the next month.”
Mustain is not the first backup QB to pitch for the Trojans. Matt Cassell also turned to baseball while backing up Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart. Mustain said that his decision to possibly play baseball will not have an impact on his football status next year.
