Just six years ago, in December, 2003, after a 52-28 win over Oregon State, USC began a record streak of 33 consecutive weeks atop the Associated Press poll.
The Trojans were ranked No. 1 for the conclusion of the 2003 season, the entire 2004 season and the entire 2005 regular season until falling to No. 2 Texas in the Rose Bowl, 41-38, on January 4, 2006.
The 33 weeks holds the record by a wide margin, with the second-longest streak belonging to Miami, who held the top spot for 20 weeks from October 14, 2001 to October 28, 2002.
