Maple bars or prison bars?

Anyone who’s still up and about at 3 a.m. knows the urge of late night munchies. Last weekend that urge nearly landed former Irish wide receiver and Carroll draftee, Golden Tate, in jail. Celebrity gossip mecca TMZ first reported that Tate and a friend were caught trespassing into the gourmet doughnut shop Top Pot (which incidentally is probably what Tate was smoking) on the first floor of his apartment building. Why? For the “irresistible” maple bars of course.

Seattle police let Tate off with a warning, a sweet deal considering the potential legal penalties for trespassing and petty theft. Pete Carroll has talked with Tate about the incident, and agrees that maple bars are irresistible.

Tate is thankful that the situation was resolved with the shop’s owner declining to press charges, admitting he is happy that this didn’t end differently.
