
Allen Bradord missed this weekend’s scrimmage with a bruised knee. The injury is not listed as serious and he could be back practicing early this week. This opens the door for Marc Tyler to be the starting tailback against Hawaii. In other RB news, C.J. Gable is nursing a pulled hamstring and Stanley Havili is having stomach issues. Both should be back on the field soon.
David Ausberry is still battling a stress fracture in his fibula. Kyle Prater has a bruised thigh.
Coach Kiffin announced that Rhett Ellison is the starting tight end.
USC is ranked 14th in the AP preseason poll. Oregon is ranked 11th and Oregon St. is ranked 24th.
Freshman Robert Woods is looking to lock down the starting wide receiver spot opposite Ronald Johnson. He is taking a majority of first team reps.
Another freshman that might start is Nickell Robey. He is splitting time with Torin Harris. No official announcement has been made yet.
In other frosh news, quarterback Jesse Scroggins, safety Demetrius Wright and fullback Soma Vainuku are not yet academically eligible. They are unable to practice until they are cleared by the NCAA. Scroggins and Wright should be cleared in the next few days. Some doubt if Vainuku will be eligible for this season. He may have to wait until the spring.
Miami wide receiver Thearon Collier is transferring to USC. He will have to sit out this year but will have two remaining years of eligibility. He could start practicing with the Trojans as early as next week. Collier caught 44 passes for 574 yards with 3 TDs at Miami. He also had 12 punt returns for 158 yards and scored twice.
