TrojanWire game balls go to Matt Barkley, Marc Tyler and Ronald Johnson. Interviews of Barkley and RoJo after the jump…
Matt Barkley had a phenomenal first game. He went 18/23 for 257 yards, no interceptions and just one sack. Barkley also threw 5 TD passes. His 5 TD passes tied a school record with Rodney Peete, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart and Mark Sanchez.
Ronald Johnson had a monster game with 4 total TDs (3 receiving and one spectacular punt return) and a two point conversion. He finished the game with 7 catches for 59 yards. Johnson’s 3 receiving TDs also tied a school record.
Marc Tyler is the main man. He had 154 yards on 17 carries. He averaged 9.1 yards per carry and broke off a 44 yard TD run late to put the game away.

The third down conversion stats would be better if not for some dumb penalties by the Trojans. USC finished the game with 11 penalties for 100 yards and two personal fouls.
