Old Time Family Baseball says it all about last night’s performance by the Giants’ 21 year-old lefty:

I’m really not sure who was responsible for tonight’s victory. Was it Madison Bumgarner’s expert pitching despite a fluid strike zone? The perfectly positioned defense? The Texas Rangers bats returning to their caves after making a brief appearance on Saturday night? Because with the Rangers looking as helpless as they have, I don’t feel like I can fully give credit to Madison Bumgarner.

Still, the 21 year old Bumgarner made the Rangers look like young boys in Rangers costumes. (Can anyone confirm that this wasn’t true?) Bumgarner’s line:

8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 SO. The Giants are sitting pretty this year and their pitching should make them favorites in the West next season.

Giants up 3-1, facing Cliff Lee tonight in a game they can now easily afford to lose. Due to the AL’s loss in the All-Star Game this year, the Series heads back to San Francisco for games 6 and 7 if necessary.
