Finally got around to watching The Fighter last night. Cliffs Notes of my review: Christian Bale is so good, he earns the right to yell at anybody on set that he wants from now on. Melissa Leo and Amy Adams are both deserving of their nominations for portrayals of hard-ass Mass. women. Mark Wahlberg is Mark Wahlberg, but that works perfectly here. As for the direction: it’s rough for David O. Russell that Aronofsky and Fincher both put out some of their best work this year, because this was definitely the best bit of directing he’s ever done and deserves more praise than it’s probably getting.
