The sentencing hearing of USC recruit Maurice Simmons was continued until Sept. 24. The district attorney’s office recommended a sentence of four-to-six years. Simmons was found guilty of two felonies and a misdemeanor in connection with a street crime.

USC got Virginia to change its final touchdown from a run to a pass. That means quarterback Mitch Mustain gets credited with a 10-yard scoring pass to tailback Marc Tyler Virginia’s stat crew ruled the touchdown a run during the game because it said the pass occurred behind the line of scrimmage.
