Trojans gave up 96 points in opening loss to Mercer, which shot 59.4%. That’s quite a fall for a team that allowed opponents to shoot only 39% last season. USC employed a man-to-man defense so stifling last season that it often compensated for the Trojans’ offensive shortcomings.
