  • Several of you asked what tributes are planned to kicker Mario Danelo this season. Here’s a few things lined up: There will be a banner above the tunnel at the Coliseum with Danelo’s name and the goal-post pads will also pay tribute to him. Every USC player will wear a custom helmet sticker. There’s also…

  • Backup quarterback hopes he can impress coaches in scrimmage. There is no starting job to be won, no chance to unseat a player regarded as a front-runner for the Heisman Trophy.

  • UCLA reinstated assistant football coach Eric Scott, who’d been on administrative leave after an arrest on suspicion of residential burglary last month. Scott, who was not charged in the burglary, met with head coach Karl Dorrell and UCLA administrators Friday. Dorrell told the team after Saturday’s practice that Scott would be returning.

  • Gary Klein, Los Angeles Times By most measures, tailback Emmanuel Moody enjoyed a productive first season at USC. The sophomore from Texas started four games, averaged nearly six yards per carry and finished second on the team in rushing in 2006.
