I’d like to pick all my guys, but it just didn’t work out, and unfortunately for Taylor, it was a hard day for him. His expectations were very, very high, and mine, too. So I feel for him.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, responding to frustrations voiced by Taylor ‘I Hit, I Don’t Tackle’ Mays about being passed up by his former college head coach for another safety (Texas’s Earl Monroe). In his first draft as head of the Seahawks, Carroll also passed on Trojan wideout Damian Williams in favor of Notre Dame’s Golden Tate;¬† and I wouldn’t expect him to go out of his way to draft his two most prominent guys left on the board – Everson Griffen or Joe McKnight – today. If Pete’s going to pick one of his former players in his first post-USC draft, it’ll likely be Jeff Byers or Stafon Johnson receiving a 6th or 7th-round nod from their old coach. It’s true, Pete would like to pick his guys; but after the way some of them played last season, I’m sure he couldn’t be more thrilled that he doesn’t have to.
