Wow, Kelly Fontes you must have short term memory. We just played the powerful SEC 4 years in a row where 3 times we played your division champs and USC smoked them all. Nobody plays non-conference like USC. In the last 8 years we’ve played Big 12 division champs, SEC division champs, ACC division champs and Big Ten division champs. What the hell does the SEC do? Your top teams scheduled these powerhouse non-conference foes (lousiana-monroe, citadel, troy, north texas, tulane, georgia southern, western kentucky, arkansas st, memphis, samford to name a few. Right now USC is hurt by the perception of the weak Pac-10 (5-0 in bowl games) and a traditional powerhouse Notre Dame being weak. Your point is that USC is scared to schedule tough opponents especially the SEC. Afraid of what? Think Again!

Funny that you say this. The SEC is renowned for playing the easiest non-conference teams of any conference.
USC is playing a pre-season top-5 team in Ohio St for the second straight year and playing Notre Dame year in and year out usually is pretty tough.
Not as easy as the Louisiana-Monroes, Troys and Norfolk Sts. that the likes of Alabama, LSU and Florida fatten up on.
By the way, you’ll want to check your history. USC often schedules SEC teams. In 2003-04 they played home and home with Auburn. Beat them both times, even shut out #6 Auburn in Auburn. Then 2005-06 against Arkansas when they had Felix Jones and Darren McFadden. Result? In Ark: USC wins 50-14. At USC: USC wins 70-17.

SEC fans: check your facts. USC has tried every year to schedule an SEC school, especially the powerhouses (Florida, LSU, Alabama). But ever since the four-in-a-row beat down against Ark and Auburn, you guys shy away from us. This is a FACT. USC can’t get you guys play them. USC has PUBLICALLY stated that they’ll play anyone, anywhere, anytime. If the SEC wants to claim to be the toughest conference, then they gotta be willing to accept the challenge from USC. It’s the SEC who doesn’t have the balz to play USC.

I’m a Florida grad living in Long Beach and have hd the opportunity to watch USC. I will say this: USC has been the best team in the country over the last few years. My Gators are the only team in the country that would test the Trojans

The Trojans are held to a higher standard than every other program; they have to go undefeated for any chance at a title shot. Here’s the only reason SC doesn’t go undefeated every year: Lack of focus. Playing for the Trojans is an anomaly. It’s the most successful football program in California, college or pro. There’s no other college athlete anywhere that gets treated like a professional. While football players at Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.. hang out with other guys on campus and date campus co-eds, SC football players hang out with A list celebrities and date super models. Think about this: If you are a top NFL prospect from SC who knows he’s going to be a mult-millionaire 4 months after the season’s over, are you really motivated to play your best in Corvallis on a Thursday night? You may say the right things when interviewed, but your mind isn’t on a national championship, it’s on The League.

really screwed the pooch tonight against Oregon on Halloween night. This is undoubtedly the worst performance by a USC defensive squad under Pete Carrol’s reign.I’m still in shock USC gave up twice as much total rushing yardage to a fricking quarterback than the whole net average per game USC has been giving up!
Problem: Mat Barkeley is a guy with a good passing arm, not great as labeled and a complete
chicken shit regarding running the ball.When all receiver are covered all the good and great quarterbacks must run to make first downs or punch it in for touch downs.
MAT Barkeley is just to delicate a flower and might hurt his precious little arm if he has to run to pull out a win!!!!!!!!
Also great second half PETE carol and master bates with the play calling the second half of the oregon game. a whole field goal! wow! impressive!
I think Pete Carrol better face the fact that next years blue collar 5 star recruits(2) in all and one just being an undeclared athlete clearly signifies the end of a reign(A DECADE) in which USC should have won at least 3-4 BCS titles.
All credits to OREGON as there only lose is to Boise state who is currently number#7 in the BCS polls. USC will go down to number 14or #15 which still isn’t to bad for this years team which lets face it, isn’t all that great.
Loads of talent just spinning its wheels, unorganised and has no understanding that a football game is 60 minutes of hell! when faced against a good opponent. USC is just to cocky this year and this far into the season still making all the same errors over and over with no improvement. False start penalties are like 26 for the year so far placing Matt Barkeley in lots of 3rd and 15 or more scenarios because the big uglies on the line have no brains. I thought this is USC where you have to be exceptionally smart to qualify to be a student!!
We will probably lose to Standford as well and end up in the emerald nut or Midas care car bowl with a 8-4 record with three pac ten loses.
I have gone back and watched several of Matt Barkeley’s high school footage reels and it’s clear he is going to need to stop telegraphing his passes and the coaches need to stop allowing the endless series of moronic penalties.
We were only one touchdown behind at half in tonights 10-31-2009 game and i’ll I can say is the fight on for USC them song appeared to be replaced with the song HEARTLESS by the group HEART.
Lastly oregon kicking the last field goal to run the score up was pointless and shows no class as all as USC was beat and had no way to win the game.

Masoli for Oregon is simply awesome even though he sucked against Boise State. HE has to be a HEISMAN candidate now or the whole BCS system is not even worth following and lets be clear I’m a USC fan of some 40 plus years!Barkely will have to grow up a little more and not be such a pansy next year! He is doing a B grade effort for a true freshman but double dumb ass on PETE CArrol for not scrambling hard to find a decent quarterback somewhere across the nation who is on a team where he is not getting playing time because the starter is to good!

Aaron Corp should go on SSI/Diability for being mentally retarded and Mitch Rider the third quarterback can throw the ball very well but just has not been given a chance throughout his career.

wow, neti sounds like an oregon fan who sucks masoli’s dick. oregon was definitely the best of pac 10 this year but i’m not going to praise them and get on their nuts lol. i agree with you 100% on the whole starting a true freshman as the qb thing. he may not have any leadership skills developed this year, but going into next year, he will be more ready then carson palmer, matt leinart, and mark sanchez were and he’ll have matured a lot more than they did coming off a disappointing season. a disappointing season to the other 3 qb’s was not winning the national championship, barkley has had it tough and i think he will be extremely good, if not great, next year.
